Turkmenistan, Iran discuss regional security in ministerial call
The foreign ministers of Turkmenistan and Iran discussed regional security, bilateral ties, and Caspian cooperation during a phone call held on May 4, according to official information.
Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov and Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi reviewed issues of mutual interest, including international developments and the state of bilateral relations.
A central focus of the talks was regional security, with both sides exchanging views on current challenges. They underlined the importance of political and diplomatic tools, describing preventive diplomacy as essential for avoiding crises and conflicts.
The ministers also addressed aspects of cooperation related to the Caspian Sea, emphasising its role as a space of peace, harmony, and good neighbourly relations. They highlighted the need to strengthen multilateral efforts to tackle environmental challenges affecting the Caspian.
Both sides agreed on the importance of continuing to develop diplomatic dialogue between Turkmenistan and Iran and committed to maintaining regular контакты between their foreign ministries.
