Turkmenistan, Iran forge new gas supply deal to Iraq
Turkmenistan is deepening its footprint in the regional gas market, having recently concluded talks in Ashgabat from July 1-3 where a significant agreement was reached with Iran.
The two nations signed a contract facilitating the annual supply of up to 10 billion cubic meters of Turkmen gas to Iraq via Iran under a SWAP arrangement, Caliber.Az reports citing the Tajik Foreign Ministry.
This deal marks a milestone in their longstanding gas industry collaboration, requiring Iran to construct a new 125-kilometre gas pipeline and three compressor stations within Turkmenistan to bolster infrastructure.
Additionally, both countries aim to expand gas exports to Iran by enhancing capacity along the Dovletabad-Serakhs-Hangeran route and through the Chaloyuk gas metering station.
