Two dead in An-2 aircraft crash in Armenia
An An-2 aircraft crashed in the Kotayk (Yolgovan) region of Armenia, resulting in the deaths of two individuals.
The crash occurred near Yegvard town at 9:30 on July 19 and involved a training aircraft operated by the Armenian military, Caliber.Az reports citing Armenian media.
Aram Torosyan, a spokesman for the Armenian Defence Ministry, confirmed the incident, stating, “I confirm the plane crash. It was a training aircraft. The Defence Ministry expresses deep condolences to the pilots' family members, their relatives, and fellow servicemen.”
The Defence Ministry is investigating the cause of the crash. The An-2, a biplane commonly used for agricultural and training purposes, is known for its rugged design but has been involved in several accidents over its long service history.
