Two injured in gas station explosion in Armenia's Armavir province

An explosion at a gas station in Armenia's Armavir Province left two people injured, prompting an emergency response and a criminal investigation, authorities said.

According to Armenia's Rescue Service under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the blast occurred at a filling station located on the road leading to Sardarapat. Emergency services received the alert at 12:25 p.m. on August 6 and immediately dispatched two fire and rescue crews to the scene, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.

Preliminary information indicates that two people were injured in the explosion. They were transported to the Armavir Medical Centre by passing vehicles with the assistance of local residents before emergency responders arrived.

The incident has been referred to the Armavir Regional Investigative Department of Armenia's Investigative Committee, which has opened a criminal investigation into the cause of the explosion. An investigative team has been deployed to examine the scene and gather evidence.

According to local media reports, the explosion is believed to have originated in an underground gasoline storage tank located on the gas station's premises.

Law enforcement authorities are working to establish the identities of both the gas station owner and the injured individuals as part of the ongoing investigation.
