Two killed, including child, in bomb blast near police station in Pakistan Photo
Two people, including a child, were killed and at least 14 others injured when an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated near a police station in northwestern Pakistan on February 16, officials said.
The explosion occurred close to the main gate of Miryan Police Station in Bannu, a district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. According to Bannu Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Sajjad Khan, the device had been planted in a motorcycle, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
“The police personnel at the site were unharmed in the explosion,” he added.
Following the blast, police cordoned off the area and launched a search operation. Authorities said a large security contingent was deployed to secure the site while investigations into the incident began.
Emergency responders transported the wounded to local hospitals.
According to initial information provided by Rescue 1122 spokesperson Muhammad Aamir, the two deceased have been identified as 25-year-old Zohaib, and 10-year-old Daniyal.
Rescue 1122 has so far identified 14 injured.
