Two more detained in Istanbul probe into drug trafficking, prostitution network

Authorities in Istanbul have detained two additional suspects as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged drug trafficking and organised prostitution, bringing the total number of detainees to 19. 

The investigation is being conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. Officials said the suspects were taken to the Istanbul Courthouse after completing police procedures and undergoing medical examinations, with some already providing testimony to prosecutors, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.

Prosecutors have requested the arrest of 11 suspects, while judicial control measures have been sought for eight others. Court proceedings are expected to begin shortly as authorities review the case materials.

The latest detentions follow an earlier operation by the Istanbul Narcotics Bureau, during which 17 of 24 wanted individuals were taken into custody. As part of the probe, searches were carried out at several restaurants and entertainment venues in the Beşiktaş, Bebek, Kuruçeşme and Etiler districts.
