Two senior Iranian military officials have been killed in an Israeli attack, Communications and Information Center of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces confirmed.
According to the center, deputy operations chief Mahdi Rabbani and intelligence chief Brigadier General Gholamreza Mehrabi, Caliber.Az reports.
Earlier, Iranian state media confimed that several senior military figures were killed, including Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri, IRGC Commander Major General Hossein Salami, and IRGC Aerospace Force Commander Major General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, along with at least six nuclear scientists.
The incident follows a military operation launched by Israel against Iran on the night of June 13.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the operation was started due to concerns over Iran’s potential development of a nuclear weapon. The Israeli attacks targeted key Iranian nuclear facilities, including the major site in Natanz, located in Isfahan province. According to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the strikes destroyed approximately 60 per cent of the above-ground structures at the facility, along with its electrical infrastructure.
In response, Iran announced a retaliatory operation against Israel. On the night of June 14, Tehran launched multiple waves of missile and drone attacks. One missile directly struck central Israel, resulting in four fatalities and injuring around 70 people.
