TWZ: US military uses new PrSM ballistic missile in strikes against Iran
The United States military has used its new Precision Strike Missile (PrSM) short-range ballistic missiles in operations targeting Iran, marking the first combat deployment of the system since it entered service roughly two years ago.
Overnight, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) released a video montage documenting the “first 24 hours of Operation Epic Fury,” the U.S. component of ongoing U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iranian targets. Among the images shared is a photo showing the launch of a PrSM from a wheeled M142 HIMARS launcher, TWZ reports.
The PrSM, also called Increment 1, offers a significantly greater range than its predecessor, the Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS). It can reach targets at least 310 miles (500 kilometers) away, with future variants expected to extend the range to roughly 400 miles (650 kilometers) or even up to 620 miles (1,000 kilometers).
