UK appoints new ambassador to Türkiye
The United Kingdom has appointed Jennifer Elizabeth Anderson as its next ambassador to Türkiye, the UK government announced.
Anderson will assume her new role in August 2026, succeeding Jill Morris, Turkish media reports.
Before her appointment, Anderson served as Director of Consular and Crisis at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) from 2020 to 2024.
She is no stranger to Türkiye, having previously served as deputy head of mission at the British Embassy in Ankara from 2017 to 2020.
Over the course of her diplomatic career, Anderson has also served as the UK's High Commissioner to Botswana, deputy head of mission in Jakarta, Indonesia, and head of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office's Counter-Terrorism Department.
Her appointment comes as the UK continues to strengthen its diplomatic engagement with Türkiye, a key NATO ally and strategic partner in the region.
