Ukraine deploys over 1,500 interceptor drones per day
Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence has achieved unprecedented delivery rates of counter-drone interceptor UAVs, surpassing 1,500 units per day in December and January.
Defence Minister Denys Shmyhal emphasized that this increase has substantially enhanced the operational capabilities of Ukrainian forces in defending against aerial threats across all levels, from frontlines to rear positions, Caliber.Az reports.
A central factor in this rapid deployment has been the DOT‑Chain Defence weapons marketplace. Through the platform, military units have been able to order and receive over 7,000 tactical interceptor drones, enabling them to address operational requirements swiftly without relying on centralized supply chains.
Interceptor drones have become a cornerstone of Ukraine’s multi-layered air defence strategy. By providing a cost-effective alternative to expensive surface-to-air missiles, they allow forces to conserve key resources while maintaining a high density of counter-UAV coverage. These systems also prevent overburdening existing air defence networks, ensuring a more resilient defence posture.
Beyond their tactical value, the drones offer vital protection for frontline personnel, military equipment, and logistical operations—an indispensable capability in the context of ongoing conflict.
