Ukraine drones target Russia's Tver, Yaroslavl, Sochi and Moscow region PHOTO / VIDEO
A wave of Ukrainian drones struck several regions of Russia overnight, with the most serious incident reported in the city of Tver, where a residential block was hit, and six people were injured, SHOT reports.
Tver: Building hit, residents evacuated
The first reports of explosions in Tver emerged at around 3 am. Residents told the outlet SHOT they heard five to six blasts over the city.
A drone crashed into the lower floors of a multi-storey residential building on Osnabryuck Street, sparking a fire and blowing out windows. Six people were injured; three adults and a child were taken to the hospital. An operational headquarters has been set up at the scene.
Residents reportedly helped neighbours evacuate the building and attempted to extinguish the fire before emergency services arrived. Local authorities have opened a temporary accommodation centre at a nearby school, where 22 people — including five children — are currently staying.
One resident told SHOT: “We felt a very strong vibration — that’s what woke us — and then a blast.”
Yaroslavl and Moscow region
Around seven explosions were reported over Yaroslavl at about 4:30 am. Footage circulating online showed smoke rising over one of the districts, and residents said they heard an unusual rumbling sound in the sky. There were no reports of casualties.
In the Moscow region, air-defence systems intercepted four drones approaching the capital. Officials said there were no injuries or damage.
Sochi and Tuapse
A series of explosions was also heard over Sochi and Tuapse, where air-defence systems engaged incoming drones. Sirens were activated in parts of the region. Authorities have not reported any injuries.
Russian officials have not commented in detail on the scale of the overnight strikes, which form part of an intensifying pattern of drone attacks deep inside Russia.
