Ukraine ends four-year vacancy with appointment of ambassador to Georgia
Ukraine has appointed Mykhailo Brodovych as its new ambassador to Georgia, ending a vacancy that had lasted since 2022.
According to Caliber.Az, citing Ukrainian media outlets, the appointment was formalised through a decree signed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Brodovych has served in Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1996. Over the course of his diplomatic career, he held the posts of Ukraine’s consul general in Istanbul and Krakow, and later served as Ukraine’s ambassador to Slovenia from 2015 to 2022.
The ambassadorial position in Georgia had remained unfilled since March 2022, when Zelensky recalled the previous envoy, Ihor Dolhov. At the time, the Ukrainian president explained that the decision was taken because the diplomat had been unable to secure Georgia’s imposition of sanctions against Russia.
