Ukraine enters “silence regime” as Russian strikes continue nationwide
The “silence regime” announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy came into force on May 6 at 00:00 local time on the eve of a Russian-announced ceasefire scheduled for May 8–9, which coincides with Victory Day celebrations.
Despite this, Russian forces continued carrying out strikes across Ukrainian regions, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
Earlier, Zelenskyy said there was a possibility of strikes targeting the May 9 parade in Moscow, noting that Ukrainian drones could reach the Russian capital on the day of the celebrations.
The “silence regime” was introduced in response to a statement by the Russian Ministry of Defence, which declared a Victory Day ceasefire while also warning of possible strikes on Kyiv.
