Ukraine launches wave of drone attacks deep inside Russia, killing two
Ukrainian drones have struck targets in three Russian regions, killing at least two people and injuring others, according to local officials.
In the western city of Penza, a drone hit an industrial facility early on August 2, killing a woman and injuring two others, said regional governor Oleg Melnichenko, Caliber.Az reports.
Emergency crews were working at the scene, he added.
In the Rostov region, acting governor Yuri Slyusar informed that air defences had intercepted drones over several districts, including Kamensk-Shakhtinsky, Belaya Kalitva, Krasnoselsky, Kamensky, Tarasovsky, Chertkovsky and Verkhnedonskoy.
A guard at a local enterprise was killed when one of the facilities caught fire in Uglerodovsky, Krasnosulinsky district, before the blaze was extinguished.
In the city of Novokuybyshevsk in the Samara region, Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev reported that an industrial site had been attacked in the early morning hours.
Russia’s defence ministry said its forces had destroyed 112 Ukrainian drones overnight across several regions and over the waters of the Azov and Black seas.
The strikes are the latest in a series of Ukrainian long-range drone attacks targeting Russian infrastructure far from the front lines.
