Ukraine says it struck two Russian warships in Sevastopol Bay VIDEO
Ukrainian military intelligence has claimed that two Russian naval vessels were struck in Sevastopol Bay during an overnight operation in occupied Crimea.
The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (HUR) said its special forces unit “Ghosts” targeted two large Russian landing ships — Yamal and Nikolai Filchenkov — on the night of 18–19 April 2026 while they were stationed in the bay.
According to the agency, both vessels belong to Russia’s Black Sea Fleet and were “successfully hit” during the operation. HUR estimated their combined value at around $150 million.
The Yamal, built in 1988, is a 112.5-metre landing ship capable of carrying up to 500 tonnes of cargo, including armoured vehicles and troops. The Nikolai Filchenkov, commissioned in 1975, has a reported cargo capacity of up to 1,000 tonnes and is used to transport armoured units and large landing forces.
HUR said both ships were rendered inoperable following the strikes.
The agency also stated that a Russian Podlet-K1 radar station, valued at approximately $5 million, was destroyed during the same operation.
The report follows earlier claims by Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) that other Russian naval assets — including the landing ship Azov, an unidentified warship, and the Grachonok patrol boat — had been damaged in separate strikes.
The SBU also said its “Alpha” special unit had damaged antenna equipment linked to the Dolphin communications system, a MR-10M1 “Mys-M1” radar station, and fuel storage tanks at the Yugtorsan oil facility.
