Ukraine seeks official US response on halted military assistance
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has directed Defenсe Minister Rustem Umerov to seek official clarification from the United States regarding the status of further military assistance to Kyiv.
"Instructed the Minister of Defence of Ukraine, the heads of our intelligence agencies, diplomats to contact their counterparts in the United States and get official information," Zelenskyy stated in a video message posted on his Telegram channel, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
Zelenskyy acknowledged growing concerns within Ukraine about the future of US military aid, which has been uncertain since the recent political shift in Washington.
The New York Times recently reported that Ukraine currently possesses enough “key equipment” to sustain its military operations until the summer of 2025, as a result of significant arms deliveries approved under former US President Joe Biden.
However, The Independent warned that without continued US support, Ukraine’s stockpile of American missiles could be depleted within days.
On March 4, the White House officially confirmed the suspension of military aid to Ukraine. This decision follows the heated Oval Office exchange between US President Donald Trump and Zelenskyy on February 28. According to US officials, Washington will not resume military assistance until Kyiv demonstrates a clear commitment to peace negotiations with Russia.
As a result, all US military aid to Ukraine, including weapons shipments currently in transit through Poland, has been put on hold indefinitely.
