Ukraine strikes Russia's Belgorod, leaving 450,000 without power
On the night of March 24 to 25, the armed forces of Ukraine carried out a massive strike on energy infrastructure in Belgorod, leaving about 450,000 residents of the region without electricity, Governor of Belgorod Oblast Vyacheslav Gladkov reported on Telegram.
Power outages affected residents of Belgorod and the Belgorod District, as well as the Shebekino and Yakovlevsky districts.
“A large number of people experienced disruptions in water and heating supply. Restoration work began almost immediately,” Gladkov wrote on his Telegram channel. He noted that all kindergartens and schools in Belgorod are currently operating normally. Full restoration work is expected to continue over the next few days.
Over the past two days, 14 residents of Belgorod Oblast have been injured, the governor added. Residents who are unable to care for themselves will now be relocated from social facilities near the border to other regions, Gladkov stated.
