Ukrainian drone strike forces closure of schools, kindergartens in Russia's Ryazan

Schools and kindergartens in Ryazan’s Oktyabrsky District were closed on May 15 following a Ukrainian drone attack on the Russian city overnight, Governor Pavel Malkov announced.

According to the governor, emergency measures were introduced after the strike, which left three people dead and 12 others injured.

“For parents who have no one to leave their children with, duty groups will be opened in schools and kindergartens,” Malkov wrote on his Telegram channel.

Authorities said two apartment buildings sustained damage as a result of the attack. Drone debris also reportedly fell on the territory of an industrial enterprise in the city.

Temporary accommodation centres have been established for residents affected by the strike, while emergency services continue to work at the scene.
