Ukrainian drone succesfully hits Russian anti-drone system
A Ukrainian drone successfully attacked the Russian Silok system, designed to combat UAVs, in the territory of the Kharkiv region this week.
The news came from the Ukrainian Center for Strategic Communications on Telegram on August 14, the Ukraine-based ProstoMob news service reports.
The drone was controlled by a fighter of Ukrainian troops in Kharkiv. He dropped two grenades on the Silok system, which is said to be capable of intercepting drones within a radius of four kilometres. Allegedly, it determines the coordinates of aircraft and "jamming" telemetry control channels. There are no technical characteristics of the Silok system in the public domain.
On this occasion, the Stratcom of the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted that such a situation is common for Russian weapons. The characteristics declared by manufacturers of defence products are quite often far from reality.
Specialists of Ukraine Weapons Tracker got acquainted with the video filmed with the help of a drone. They claim that the video shows the ROSC-1 complex and not the Silk. It is designed to fight such drones as DJI Spark, RQ-7 Shadow, DJI Mavic, RQ-11B Raven, etc. Meanwhile, the Russian complex turned out to be powerless against the Kharkiv Terodefense drone.
