Ukrainian president, ex-army chief focus on diplomacy, national resilience
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting in Kyiv with Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Ukraine’s ambassador to the United Kingdom and former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The discussion focused on “diplomatic tasks” aimed at strengthening Ukraine amid ongoing geopolitical challenges, Caliber.Az reports, citing Ukrainian media.
In a post on X, Zelenskyy wrote: “I met with Valerii Zaluzhnyii. I thanked him for his work as part of Ukraine's team, and it is important that all of us together are defending Ukraine's independence, our national interests, and our people. We discussed diplomatic tasks that are relevant now and can strengthen all of us – Ukraine and our resilience.”
Zaluzhnyi, who was dismissed as commander-in-chief in 2024 and now serves as ambassador to the UK, has previously warned that Russia is preparing for a prolonged confrontation. He stressed that Ukraine must move beyond a strategy of attrition and adopt a broader plan of action grounded in innovation and technology.
