UN says Iran executed over 400, sentenced 85 children to death

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk has said that more than 400 people were executed in Iran from early 2022 till September, for the first time in five years.

He made the remarks on November 24 at a meeting of the Human Rights Council, Report informs.

The high commissioner noted that Iran executed 276 people in 2020 and 330 in 2021.

Turk added that currently, 85 children are on death row.

“Two children have already been executed this year,” he stressed.
