Unidentified warplanes strike PMF positions in Iraq’s Kirkuk province
Unidentified warplanes conducted two airstrikes on April 7 targeting positions of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) south of Iraq’s Kirkuk province, local security sources told Shafaq News.
The strikes hit two locations affiliated with the PMF’s 16th Brigade—one in Taza subdistrict and another in the Bashir area—during the early morning hours. Authorities have not released information on casualties or damage, citing tight security measures enforced around the sites.
An official inquiry has been launched to investigate the circumstances of the strikes and identify those responsible.
PMF positions in Iraq have faced repeated attacks since the outbreak of the US-Israeli war on Iran on February 28. According to local sources, previous airstrikes targeting PMF units have killed at least 71 people and injured 196 others.
