US airstrikes on Iran draw international condemnation
Countries around the world are speaking out in condemnation of the recent US airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities.
The Omani Foreign Ministry has condemned the recent US military strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, labeling them as an act of unlawful aggression. In its official statement, the ministry emphasised the urgent need for de-escalation and the restoration of stability in the region.
Saudi Arabia echoed this position, with its foreign ministry also condemning the attacks on Iranian territory. Riyadh called on the international community to intensify efforts toward resolving the crisis through diplomatic means and preventing further escalation.
Qatar’s Foreign Ministry has joined the growing chorus of regional condemnation following the US airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities. In an official statement, the ministry expressed regret over the US action, warning that such an escalation of tensions in the Middle East could have catastrophic consequences.
"The State of Qatar expresses its regret over the escalation, which included strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, and is following developments with deep concern in the aftermath of the recent attacks on the Islamic Republic of Iran," the ministry said in a statement posted on X.
The Qatari Foreign Ministry warned that the current dangerous escalation in the region could lead to catastrophic consequences at both regional and international levels.
Meanwhile, Egypt also issued a warning about the danger of the region descending further into chaos and tension, stressing that the only viable path out of the crisis lies in political solutions and diplomatic negotiations—not military confrontation.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun stated that the bombing of Iranian nuclear facilities intensifies concerns over rising tensions that could threaten not only regional security and stability but also global peace. Türkiye also expressed deep concern over the potential consequences of the US strikes on Iran, warning that the situation risks escalating from a regional conflict into a global crisis. The statement was issued by the Turkish Foreign Ministry.
“Türkiye is deeply concerned about the possible consequences of the US strike on the nuclear facilities of the Islamic Republic of Iran. These developments could escalate a regional conflict into a global one. We sincerely hope this catastrophic scenario does not come to pass,” the statement read.
“We have consistently warned of the risk of the conflict—initially triggered by Israeli aggression—spreading across the region and further destabilizing the already fragile security environment. Today’s [June 22] US strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities has elevated that risk to its highest level,” the statement read.
Moscow also issued a strong condemnation of the US attacks, calling them an irresponsible act and a flagrant violation of the United Nations Charter. The remarks were made in an official statement released by the Russian Foreign Ministry.
“Russia firmly condemns the US strikes carried out at dawn on June 22 against several nuclear facilities in Iran, which followed earlier Israeli attacks on the Islamic Republic,” the Russian Foreign Ministry stated.
The ministry emphasised that the reckless decision to launch missile and aerial strikes on the territory of a sovereign state—regardless of the justification offered -constitutes a blatant violation of international law, the UN Charter, and relevant UN Security Council resolutions, which have previously deemed such actions unacceptable.
