US Ambassador Barrack may not return to Türkiye after Washington recall

U.S. Ambassador to Türkiye Tom Barrack has been recalled to Washington for consultations, investigative journalist Laura Loomer said, citing an unnamed State Department source, after remarks that she said had triggered a diplomatic dispute involving Israel, Türkiye and Syria.

Loomer alleged that Barrack had falsely accused Israel of illegally occupying the Golan Heights, saying the comments had risked escalating regional tensions.

“In State Department lingo, this is the term for having your ass handed to you by your boss,” Loomer wrote in a post referring to Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

She also cited a source at the State Department as saying: “We want him gone so badly we might hire packers to pack his belongings for him.”

Loomer said Barrack might not return to Türkiye, raising questions over whether the consultations could lead to a change in his diplomatic posting.

The claims, however, could not be independently verified, and no official statement confirming Barrack’s recall or removal was provided in the material available.
