US approves $730 million AMRAAM missile sale to Denmark
On December 6, 2025, the US State Department approved a potential sale to Denmark of 200 AIM-120C-8 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM) along with additional equipment, valued at up to $730 million.
According to Caliber.Az, the information was released by the press office of the US Defence Security Cooperation Agency.
“The Government of Denmark has requested to buy two hundred (200) AIM-120C-8 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM) and three (3) AIM-120C-8 AMRAAM guidance sections. The following non-major defense equipment items will also be included: AMRAAM control sections, containers, and support equipment; spare parts, consumables and accessories, and repair and return support; weapons software and support equipment; classified and unclassified software delivery and support; classified and unclassified publications and technical documentation; transportation support; U.S. Government and contractor engineering, technical, and logistics support services; and other related elements of logistics and program support. The estimated total cost is $730 million,” the statement reads.
The final cost may vary depending on the specific terms of the agreement.
The proposed sale aims to strengthen Denmark’s capability to meet current and future threats by providing modern and effective air-to-air munitions. It will also enhance the already high level of interoperability between the Danish Air Force, US Joint Forces, and other NATO and regional forces.
Officials noted that Denmark will be able to absorb the equipment and services into its armed forces without difficulty.
The statement emphasised that the sale of this equipment and support will not change the basic military balance in the region.
