US Army representative to work in Armenian Defence Ministry

Uzra Zeya, US Under Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights, has confirmed that a US Army representative is set to work within the Armenian Defence Ministry. 

"Yes, I confirm it. This marks the beginning of a new strategic phase in our bilateral relations. We welcome the deepening of ties in the defence, civilian, and security sectors," Zeya stated, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.

Previously, US Ambassador to Armenia Christine Quinn mentioned that the US and Armenia are engaged in "very active and substantive" discussions on security and defence matters. She also noted that the US plans to appoint an advisor to the Armenian Defence Ministry.
