US, Bahrain sign $17 billion in deals to deepen economic ties
During the visit of Bahrain's Prime Minister and Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa to the United States, the two sides signed a series of deals totaling $17 billion.
According to Newsru.co.il, the agreements cover cooperation in the fields of aviation, technology, industry, and finance.
Specifically, Cisco Systems will provide digital solutions for Bahraini government agencies, while Bahrain's sovereign wealth fund will invest $2 billion in the U.S. aluminium industry.
The deals cover multiple sectors, strengthening bilateral economic cooperation. Specific projects include an 800-kilometer multi-fiber submarine cable linking Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Iraq to global networks, enhancing regional connectivity.
The U.S. and Bahrain have a long-standing partnership, with Bahrain hosting the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet and the headquarters of U.S. Naval Forces Central Command since the 1990s.
