US, Chinese top diplomats discuss efforts to resolve Middle East conflict
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken held talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
The diplomats discussed the American side's efforts to resolve the situation in the Middle East, Caliber.Az reports, citing a statement published on the State Department website.
Blinken shared with his colleague his impressions of his recent trip to the Middle East. He reaffirmed the urgent need to work comprehensively to prevent the conflict from spreading beyond the region.
The Secretary of State also stressed that this week's Houthi attacks on private vessels in the Red Sea pose an unacceptable threat to maritime security and international law, which all countries must respect.
Blinken and Wang Yi stressed the need to continue to build on the progress made between China and the United States on key issues at the summit between the leaders of the two countries.
