US delegation heads to Islamabad for next round of Iran negotiations
US Vice President JD Vance is expected to depart Washington later today for Pakistan, where he will join senior US officials for the next round of negotiations related to the conflict with Iran, according to people familiar with the plans cited by CNN.
A second round of talks between the US and Iranian delegations is currently scheduled to take place on Wednesday, April 22, in Islamabad. However, sources noted that the timing and arrangements remain uncertain, as tensions persist and public rhetoric from both Washington and Tehran continues to escalate.
The White House told CNN that there is no confirmed schedule for the trip, stating: “We expect the delegation to be on the road soon but unclear when.”
The visit comes as a ceasefire deadline set by US President Donald Trump approaches on Wednesday evening. Trump has indicated that it is “highly unlikely” he would agree to extend the ceasefire if no agreement is reached.
