US imposes sanctions on Iran Air
The Washington administration has added Iranian airline Iran Air to the sanctions list concerning Russia.
A statement by the US Department of the Treasury notes that the new restrictions against the company relate to its ties with Russia, as well as the transport of weapons, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
Previously, the US has already imposed sanctions against Iran Air.
Additionally, the US Department of the Treasury reported about the restrictions against a number of other Iranian individuals and legal entities.
John Kirby, National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications at the White House, disclosed the forthcoming measures during an online briefing.
The sanctions will specifically address those involved in the transfer of weaponry and military technology between Tehran and Moscow. This includes components for weapon systems, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and short-range ballistic missiles.
Kirby emphasized that the new sanctions are designed to disrupt the supply chains and partnerships that facilitate the exchange of military capabilities between the two nations.
