US intends to develop defence cooperation with Armenia
US Ambassador to Armenia Christina Quinn announced Washington's intention to expand cooperation with Yerevan in the field of defense.
She said this at the ceremony of presenting her credentials to Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturian, Interfax reports with reference to the presidential press service.
“Despite the fact that I know about difficult and challenging times, I believe that by working together we will be able to raise Armenia and our bilateral relations to a better level. I look forward to working to expand our joint work, whether within the framework of the International Development Agency (USAID), in the field of defence or other areas, to do everything to strengthen our cooperation,” the diplomat said.
Quinn also announced her intention to contribute to efforts to establish peace in the South Caucasus region.
On February 20, Armenian Defence Minister Suren Papikyan discussed issues of military-technical cooperation with James Hursh, Director of the Defence and Security Cooperation Agency of the US Department of Defence, at a meeting in the United Arab Emirates at the Idex and Navdex 2023 international defence forum.
