US launches eighth consecutive night of airstrikes on Iran
The US military has completed another round of strikes against targets in Iran, according to the US Central Command (CENTCOM).
“U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) completed another round of strikes against Iran on July 18 at 11:30 p.m. ET, at the Commander in Chief's direction.
During the eighth consecutive night of U.S strikes, CENTCOM forces successfully hit Iranian military coastal surveillance and air defense facilities, maritime capabilities, and missile and drone storage sites to continue degrading Iranian military capabilities,” the command said in a statement.
CENTCOM added that the strikes also targeted units of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) that attacked US service members in Jordan on July 17.
Earlier, the command announced that a new wave of airstrikes against Iran had begun overnight on July 19 on the orders of the commander-in-chief. According to CENTCOM, the operation is intended to further degrade Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and to swiftly punish IRGC forces responsible for attacks on US military personnel in Jordan the previous night.
