US military funding for Armenia jumps from $16,000 to $8.1 million

US military funding for Armenia rose sharply in fiscal year 2024, according to Pentagon statistics.

US military assistance to Armenia through the Foreign Military Financing (FMF) programme began in 2002. By fiscal year 2024, the cumulative amount allocated to Armenia had exceeded $60 million, Sputnik Armenia reports.

US funding to Armenia increased to more than $8.1 million in 2024, compared with about $16,000 in 2023 and roughly $1.3 million in 2022, according to the Pentagon statistics.

Last week, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of War Andrew Loomis said Washington intended to use the full potential of its programmes to support reforms in the Armenian armed forces.
