US officials to visit Armenia to discuss "Trump Corridor" implementation

Next week, a delegation from the United States will visit Armenia to discuss plans for the so-called “Trump Corridor,” according to sources familiar with the visit.

The American delegation will explore not only the technical and political aspects of the corridor but also investment volumes, priorities, and the proposed timeline for construction, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.

The visit aims to clarify the sequence of steps needed to implement the version of the memorandum already initialled by the leaders of the United States, Azerbaijan, and Armenia.

Official sources have so far declined to comment on the details or agenda of the visit. However, the newspaper reports that discussions will be held behind closed doors, with decisions expected to directly shape the region’s new transport and economic landscape.

The corridor plan stems from a joint declaration signed at the White House on August 8 by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, mediated by US President Donald Trump. 

The declaration outlined the main contours of a future peace agreement and broader framework for peaceful coexistence between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

On the same day, the foreign ministers of both countries initialled an agreement on peace and the establishment of formal intergovernmental relations in the presence of representatives from the three nations.
