US promises reliable energy supplies to Asia-Pacific
The United States can ensure reliable energy supplies to the Asia-Pacific region despite disruptions caused by the war with Iran, Doug Burgum, Secretary of the United States Department of the Interior, said.
According to Al Jazeera, Burgum made the remarks during the Indo-Pacific Energy Security Ministerial and Business Forum held in Tokyo.
He said the energy policy of US President Donald Trump, known as “energy dominance,” is designed to ensure that the United States has sufficient energy resources to support domestic prosperity while also enabling the country to export energy to allies and partners.
According to Burgum, this approach guarantees “reliable, affordable and secure” energy supplies that “cannot be interrupted by a terrorist regime.”
Burgum also highlighted the importance of ensuring stable supplies of critical minerals, noting that many countries in the Asia-Pacific region are seeking to reduce their dependence on China, which is a leading global exporter of these resources.
The Indo-Pacific Energy Security Ministerial and Business Forum, which had been organised before the outbreak of the war between the United States and Israel against Iran on February 28, brought together political leaders and American energy companies to discuss energy cooperation and conclude commercial agreements.
