US strike on Iran’s Tabriz kills one, injures several VIDEO
A US strike targeting a military area southwest of Tabriz caused the death of at least one person and injured several others.
Authorities did not immediately disclose the full extent of the damage or provide further details on the specific locations targeted, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.
The reported attacks mark a notable shift in the US campaign.
During the previous 10 days, strikes had been concentrated largely in southern Iran, making the reported attacks on Tabriz and Urmia the first to extend into the country's northwest.
The developments come after Israel's public broadcaster KAN reported on Sunday that Washington had informed Israel of plans to intensify its military operations against Iran in the coming days.
The United States has stepped up its strikes on Iran in recent days. At the same time, Tehran has responded by launching attacks on facilities and bases it says are used by the US military across several countries in the region.
The renewed exchange of attacks comes despite a Pakistan-brokered memorandum of understanding signed by the two sides in June, which was intended to end the conflict and pave the way for a lasting peace agreement.
