US strikes Iranian grain facilities for first time since start of conflict
The United States carried out strikes on grain storage facilities in Iran’s Khuzestan province on July 15, 2026, marking the first confirmed attack on the country’s food infrastructure since the outbreak of hostilities.
Valiollah Hayati, the deputy governor of Khuzestan province, said US forces struck a grain silo in Hoveyzeh County as well as a grain storage facility in Dasht-e Azadegan County, Caliber.Az reports per Iranian media.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump warned that military operations against Iran would continue and expand in the coming days, stressing that Washington could begin targeting the country's power infrastructure and key bridges next week if Tehran does not return to negotiations.
Tensions between the United States and Iran have intensified in recent days over the Strait of Hormuz, with both sides carrying out attacks despite a Pakistan-brokered memorandum of understanding intended to de-escalate the conflict and pave the way for a lasting peace agreement.
