US surveillance plane spotted near Russia's Sochi during Black Sea patrol

A US Navy Boeing P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol and anti-submarine aircraft was observed flying over the Black Sea near the coast of Sochi, drawing attention amid continued US military aviation activity in the region.

According to data from the Flightradar24 portal, the aircraft departed from Bulgaria and proceeded over the Black Sea, flying past Crimea in the direction of Sochi. After approaching the area, the plane turned around and set a return course.

Reports note that such flights are not unusual. In late November, a US Bombardier Artemis II reconnaissance aircraft conducted surveillance operations over the Black Sea, while earlier in November, a US Air Force Boeing RC-135U Combat Sent was also spotted operating in the region.
