US to grant over $10 million to Georgian Defence Ministry Details
The government of the United States will provide a grant of $10.4 million to Georgia's Ministry of Defence.
The grant was approved by the Georgian government, Caliber.Az reports, citing Georgian media.
The corresponding government order approving U.S. grants to Georgia’s Ministry of Defence was signed by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
“1. In accordance with the Georgian government’s decree No. 238 of July 1, 2015, ‘On the Approval of the Procedure for Coordinating Foreign Assistance in Georgia and Providing Grants through Georgian Ministries,’ the decision of the U.S. government to transfer goods to the Ministry of Defence of Georgia under grants (PB-B-WFK, DT-B-WAZ, PB-B-WFJ, DT-B-WBC, and DT-B-WBA) with a total value of $10,431,459.90 is hereby approved," the order reads.
It adds: "In accordance with subparagraph ‘g’ of Article 4 of the Georgian Law ‘On Grants,’ the Ministry of Defence of Georgia is authorised to receive communication equipment and other types of goods provided under the grants allocated by the U.S. government to the Ministry of Defence of Georgia under the first point of this order,” the decree signed by Irakli Kobakhidze states.
