US VP Vance to visit Baku, Yerevan following Winter Olympics opening
US Vice President J.D. Vance will travel to Armenia and Azerbaijan after attending the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Milan.
At the ceremony, Vance will lead the American delegation, which includes his wife, Usha Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and US Ambassador to Italy Tilman Fertitta, Caliber.Az reports, citing American media.
After Italy, Vance will go to Armenia and Azerbaijan, where Trump has tasked him with developing an agreement aimed at ending the forty-year conflict between the two countries. The exact dates of the visits have not been specified.
The Winter Olympics opening in Milan, Italy, is scheduled for February 6.
On January 24, US President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that Vance will visit Armenia and Azerbaijan in February.
“We will strengthen our strategic partnership with Azerbaijan, a beautiful Agreement for Peaceful Nuclear Cooperation with Armenia, Deals for our Great Semiconductor Makers, and the sale of Made in the U.S.A. Defense Equipment, such as body armor and boats, and more, to Azerbaijan,” Trump noted.
