Uzbek president receives top academic honours in Pakistan
Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has been awarded the titles of honorary doctor and professor of Pakistan’s National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST).
The award ceremony took place on February 5 during the first meeting of the Uzbekistan–Pakistan Strategic Cooperation Council, Caliber.Az reports via the official website of the Uzbek president.
The certificates were presented to the Uzbek president by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The honorary titles were conferred in recognition of Mirziyoyev’s contributions to socio-economic and educational reforms, the country’s sustainable modernisation, the development of science and technology, as well as the strengthening of international cooperation and academic ties.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mirziyoyev thanked Pakistan’s leadership and the academic community for the high appraisal of his work and emphasised the importance of further expanding educational partnerships and jointly training highly qualified specialists.
Founded in 1991, Pakistan’s National University of Sciences and Technology is one of the country’s leading higher education institutions, integrating education, research, and innovation, including graduate and doctoral training and the development of applied research focused on economic and industrial needs.
