Uzbekistan to test artificial rain project
24 February 2026 20:16
Uzbekistan is set to launch a pilot project aimed at producing artificial rainfall, the government has announced.
Under a state programme for 2026, the project will be implemented on a scientific basis, with work scheduled to begin on March 1, Caliber.Az reports via Uzbek media.
Officials say the initiative will draw on international experience from France, China, and Saudi Arabia.
During the pilot phase, at least three to five practical tests are planned. Authorities expect the technology could boost rainfall by 10–20% above natural levels.
The project will be overseen by the National Committee for Ecology and Climate Change, the Academy of Sciences, and the Tashkent regional administration.
