Wagner military convoy moving through Lipetsk, governor confirms

Governor of Russia’s Lipetsk region Igor Artamonov has said that law enforcement agencies and authorities are taking all necessary measures to ensure the safety of the population amidst Wagner troops’ presence in the region.

Wagner is moving "equipment" in the region, it is less than 400 km from the region's capital to Moscow, Kommersant reports, citing Artamonov’s Telegram channel.

Earlier, BBC verified a video showing a Wagner convoy of armed vehicles travelling on the M4 motorway, which links Voronezh and Moscow through the region of Lipetsk.

In his Teegram post, Artamonov also reminded residents that "they are strongly advised not to leave their homes and avoid travelling by any means".

“I understand all the inconveniences but I earnestly ask you to help us and follow these recommendations. Friends, I hope for your understanding and prudence,” he wrote.

Artamonov stressed that there were no failures in critical infrastructure.

He said that he has been in the operational headquarters with representatives of all agencies since nightfall.

The governor also said that he was in touch with all district heads and services: "Law enforcement agencies and authorities... are taking all necessary measures to ensure the safety of the population. The situation is under control."
