Washington, Tehran agree to keep ceasefire alive, report says
12 August 2026 14:53
Washington and Tehran have agreed in principle to extend the 60-day ceasefire reached under the Islamabad Agreement, Anadolu Agency reports.
The current ceasefire is due to expire on August 17. The sources said both the United States and Iran have conveyed their agreement to extend the truce through the Pakistani mediator.
However, discussions over the precise duration of the extension are still underway, according to the report.
The development comes as efforts continue to maintain the ceasefire and prevent a renewed escalation between Washington and Tehran.
