Weather chaos in Kazakhstan: Airbus restrictions and heavy snowfall disrupt flights
Air Astana has issued a warning about possible flight delays after Airbus imposed new operational restrictions on several aircraft types.
According to Caliber.Az, citing Kazakh media outlets, the airline announced that Airbus has limited the departure of A320neo, A321neo and A321LR aircraft when supercooled fog is present and visibility drops below 150 meters.
Air Astana noted that such weather conditions are common at Almaty International Airport during the winter months. The airline stressed that ensuring flight safety remains its top priority and advised passengers to check the latest status of their flights in advance via Air Astana’s official website or mobile application.
Meanwhile, the Almaty Akimat (the local government authority) reported that the city received half of its monthly precipitation norm within the past 24 hours.
