Will Türkiye buy the second batch of S-400 air defence systems in Russia?

"We believe that the question of the first batch and the second batch are not very correct. We are talking about the work of the roadmap, which was signed on the first day. The work of the roadmap includes certain technical and financial elements. Türkiye does not deviate from the conditions it signed on the first day, and does not set any conditions at this stage," Demir said.

In September 2017, Türkiye signed an agreement with the Russian Federation in the amount of $ 2.5 billion for the supply of two divisions (four batteries)of the S-400 air defence system as part of an "urgent need". Thanks to this agreement, Türkiye became the first NATO country to buy the S-400 from Russia.

The first batch of S-400 worth $ 1.3 billion was delivered to the Turkish Air Force as of July 2019. Delivery of the second batch of S-400 has not yet been made. As part of the agreement, the Russian Federation will transfer technology to Türkiye during the delivery of the second S-400 division.

It is emphasized that the main reason that the second batch of S-400 has not yet been delivered is disagreements with Russia over technology transfer.
