Putin reaffirms readiness for talks with Ukraine without preconditions, Kremlin says
Russian President Vladimir Putin has reaffirmed Russia’s willingness to resume negotiations with Ukraine without any preconditions, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov announced on April 26.
Speaking to journalists, Peskov said that during a meeting held the previous day with Steven Witkoff, the special envoy of US President Donald Trump, Putin once again made clear Moscow’s position, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
"During yesterday’s conversation with President Trump’s envoy, Mr. Witkoff, Vladimir Putin reiterated that the Russian side is prepared to resume the negotiation process with Ukraine without any preconditions," Peskov stated, emphasising that the Russian leader had previously voiced this stance on multiple occasions.
The meeting between Putin and Witkoff, which took place on April 25, marked the fourth encounter between the Russian President and the US envoy since the beginning of the year. According to Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov, the talks lasted for three hours and were described as "constructive and very useful."
US President Donald Trump later commented on the engagement, calling the meeting between Witkoff and Putin “good.”
