Magnitude 5.5 earthquake strikes off Russia's Kamchatka peninsula

A magnitude 5.5 earthquake struck the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula, according to the Kamchatka branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The earthquake's epicentre was located approximately 521 kilometres from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and 116 kilometres from the village of Nikolskoye, the administrative centre of the Aleutsky municipal district, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media. 

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 63.7 kilometres.

Tremors of up to three on the Richter scale were felt in Nikolskoye, but there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
