Kremlin warns Kyiv’s strike on Iranian vessel risks further escalation

Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov called Kyiv’s attack on an Iranian vessel, which resulted in the death of a sailor, a dangerous escalation and warned against expanding the geography of hostilities in the Ukrainian conflict.

Commenting on the incident, Peskov told reporters that the Kremlin views the attack as "extremely dangerous" and "another escalation of tensions," Caliber.Az reports.

He also said that provocations by Kyiv, including during Russia's autumn election campaign for the ninth State Duma, should be expected and that authorities must be prepared for them.

"They can always and should always be expected," Peskov said in response to a question about whether the Kremlin anticipates provocations from Ukraine during the voting period. "And we need to prepare for them."

He added that security during the autumn elections would be reliably ensured and that security services are working on it.
