Kyrgyzstan links fuel price increase to higher import costs

28 July 2026 13:18

The Kyrgyz government has attributed a recent increase in fuel prices to higher procurement costs, despite previously introduced price controls.

Danyar Amangeldiev, First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, said the rise in the price of AI-92 gasoline was driven by an increase in the cost of purchasing fuel, Caliber.Az reports per Kyrgyz media

Responding to questions about the 2 som (about $0.02) per litre increase in AI-92 prices, Amangeldiev said the adjustment reflected higher acquisition costs.

He added that Kyrgyz officials are currently holding talks in Moscow on the supply of all types of fuel and lubricants.

Fuel prices in Bishkek recently increased across several grades. The price of AI-92 gasoline rose from 84.9 som (about $0.97) to 86.9 som (about $0.99) per litre, while AI-95 increased from 97.9 som (about $1.12) to 99.9 som (about $1.14). Diesel prices also climbed from 98.3 som (about $1.12) to 99.9 som (about $1.14) per litre.
